I’m Jonathan and I’m a New York-based software developer, urbanist, and emerging data scientist.

I have extensive experience building web applications and APIs on a modern open-source stack. I try to use technology to grow and sustain community, to make better decisions, and to improve the human condition. (This isn’t easy, nor inevitable, but it’s the work worth doing.)

I’ve helped cities open data and design digital citizen engagement strategies. I founded one of the first Code for America Brigades and led the launch of Grand Rapids, Michigan’s open data portal. I thrive as a translator, bridging the gap between technical details and generalist understanding. I’ve lived in both France and the United States (I hold citizenship to both). I’m very much a mixture of two places.

I’m currently pursuing a Masters in Applied Urban Science and Informatics at New York University. I’ve worked with data as an engineer. I’m now here to make sense of it all.
